About Me

BIOGRAPHY
I am basically a self-taught artist other than passing my art ‘O’ level in 1979 and attending the occasional art class in more recent years following my retirement from a career in nursing in the NHS.
Having tried a few different mediums I have found the use of acrylics and then water-mixable oils preferable for my style of art. Initially I was more of an “architectural” artist with a fondness for windows and doors [!] but have since embraced the landscape especially when using the oils.
I have lived on the Isle of Arran on the west coast of Scotland for many years and it is the beautiful scenery which is the inspiration for most of my art and those which are not of a specific location I think of them as the “Shades of Arran”.
Each year the local art group Arran Visual Arts, which has both amateur and professional members, organise an art exhibition and I was delighted when 4 of my original artworks and many of my cards were sold over the past couple of years. I was extremely encouraged by this and prompted me to develop this website, as a “work in progress” initially to see how much further interest there is in my art. I would be selling just cards and prints in the first instance.
